FAQ

Are All Sessions Virtual?

All sessions are virtual with no options for in-person therapy. Sessions take place over a secure, user friendly video service that will be provided for you. You may use a desktop, laptop, iPad, or your ‘smart phone’; whatever is most convenient for you.

What’s the difference between virtual and in-person therapy?

For the most part, virtual and in-person therapy are the same, and discuss the same topics and goals. The main difference is there is not a dedicated physical space for therapy to occur, so both therapist and client must ensure they have a private place for sessions.

Are there benefits to virtual therapy?

Absolutely! Virtual therapy can allow you to engage in sessions from the comfort and familiarity of your home. If you live with a vulnerable health condition, or in a rural location, virtual sessions can provide a safe and accessible option for therapy. It allows clients to save the time, energy, and cost of travelling to a therapy appointment at a physical location. It allows session scheduling to be more flexible, and reduces costs, due to a physical location not being needed. I have had many clients who were initially reluctant to try video sessions before COVID-19, but now prefer the format, due to all the benefits.

What clients do you work with?

My practice focuses on adults, and I work with both individuals and couples. I have worked with clients to achieve a wide variety of goals. My experience has been that everyone comes to therapy with different needs and goals, and no two clients are exactly alike. Therapy is all about finding the right fit for you! If you aren’t sure if my services are a fit for your specific goals, feel free to contact me and schedule a free consultation to discuss what you are looking for, and what I might be able to offer.

You offer free consultations; what are those?

Free consultations are brief phone or video discussions where we initially explore what you are looking for from therapy, and whether I would be a good match for your goals. It provides an opportunity for both of us to ask questions and provide information. I know choosing a therapist can be a difficult process, so this also gives you an opportunity to get to know me, and see if we collaborate well. If you are curious about what a video session might be like, you can also request the free consult be virtual, so you can get a sense for what video therapy might feel like for you.
