Therapy Services for Individuals and Couples

I provide convenient and approachable virtual therapy services for individuals and couples. While I work with clients to achieve many different objectives, I specialize in working with young adults, professionals, and those trying to find their voice. Frequent areas of focus involve topics such as healthy boundaries, communication and conflict skills, anxiety, and a greater work/life balance.

Information About Me

I hold a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Manitoba, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Winnipeg, and I am a Therapist and Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. Over the previous 15 years my professional experience has taken me to such varied settings such as counselling on crisis lines, a University setting, a Community Health Centre, supporting marginalized populations within the child welfare system, and my own private therapy practice.

Throughout my career I have had the privilege to work with many diverse clients, whom each present with their own unique goals. Some of the topics and challenges I’ve supported clients with include anxiety, depression, family/parenting conflict, relationship and marriage counselling, motivation/prioritizing goals, boundary setting, shame, vulnerability, communication skills, men’s issues, identity, gender, sexuality, abandonment issues, trauma, and substance use. I believe everyone has many examples of resilience in their lives; I strive to help individuals recognize and build on these existing strengths.

I believe we are all much more than our challenges and roles, so I feel it is only fair that I provide some context of my life outside of therapy. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner (and our fur babies), seeing family, cycling, reading, playing games, and excessively analyzing the latest films and shows.

My Therapeutic Approach

First, I am honoured that you're interested in working with me, as I know selecting someone for therapy services can be a daunting task at times. Fundamental to my therapeutic work is a non-judgmental lens, a collaborative approach, and the client-centered idea that we are all ultimately the experts over our own lives. I am mindful that therapy can be a sensitive process, and I strive to honour that trust by creating an emotionally safe, warm, and approachable atmosphere. I believe humour can be a powerful tool in difficult situations. Our goal is to work as a team, to better understand the challenges that brought you to seek therapy, and explore the many ways we might achieve your goals.

For those interested in the 'jargon' of the profession, my therapeutic practice can best be described an an eclectic approach, incorporating a diverse set of styles; this includes Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Narrative approaches. I apply a strengths-based emphasis, harm reduction strategies, mindfulness and psychoeducational components. I practice from a trauma-informed perspective, and utilize a theoretical frameworks such as Family Systems Theory, Anti-Oppressive Practice, an Attachment Theory lens, and I value safe and affirming care practices for 2SLGBTQQIA+ community members.

I find it incredibly rewarding to support individuals to overcome challenges and reach their goals; I look forward to working with you so that we may do the same.
